The Pederson Group has been retained by Scaletta Engineering to conduct a search for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team in Winnipeg, MB!
Scaletta Engineering is a trusted provider of structural engineering services, including structural design, structural drafting, and structural inspections, for residential and commercial projects across Manitoba and Western Ontario! Scaletta Engineering is a startup company, recently founded by Cody Scaletta, a structural engineer with over a decade of combined project management and structural engineering experience for projects including schools, community centers, diesel generating stations, water treatment plants, bulk fuel facilities, gas stations, government facilities and multi-million dollar multi-family/storey residential apartment complexes.
We are looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Structural Engineer who can take the reins and hit the ground running, working alongside the President & CEO, Cody Scaletta! As the Senior Structural Engineer, you will manage significant projects and successfully execute and deliver projects from beginning to end across western areas.
Responsibilities:

Develop, draft and design construction documents using AutoCAD and additional structural design software.

Respond to all inquiries on a timely basis and complete project inspections.

Collaborate effectively with team members during the design and/or construction phases to ensure project success.

Prepare and/or review engineering specifications for projects at each phase of delivery.

Responsible for communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements.

Lead early phase effort for determination/guidance of most appropriate engineering systems by utilizing best practice engineering methods.
Experience and Qualifications:
-
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in structural engineering.

A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.

P. Eng. designation is required.
-
Advanced knowledge and understanding of construction methods, procedures, building codes and material design principles.

Advanced proficiency and expertise using structural design software.

Advanced knowledge and experience of shearwall design.
Proven experience working on various structural projects, including:

Multi-family and multi-storey residential, up to 6 storeys.

Light/medium commercial.
-
Foundations and superstructures including wood, steel, and concrete design.
Additional qualifications that are preferred, but not required:
-
Experience working with helical pile design for large structures.

Prior knowledge and experience working with scaffolding, falsework design and shoring designs.

Experience working on small residential projects including new homes, additions, foundation repairs, and/or field assessment reports.

Knowledge of estimating and preparing project estimates with a basic understanding of bidding and tendering processes.

Ability to review shop drawings related to structural steel, connections, miscellaneous metal, as well as concrete piles would be considered an asset.
