Director of Project Management

The Pederson Group has been retained by a highly reputable multi-family developer to conduct a search for a new Director of Project Management to join their team in Winnipeg, MB!

Our client is an industry-leading development company specializing in multi-family projects. With over two decades of experience in land acquisition, construction project management and property management, our client is known for their dedication to developing communities that focus on the evolving needs of residents. Their impressive portfolio of multi-family projects in Winnipeg exceeds 3,000 units and continues to grow at a rapid pace, with an average of 400-500 units developed per year.

Reporting to the President, the Director of Project Management will be responsible for overseeing construction operations, personnel management, project planning, financial management, and quality control while ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the construction organization.  

  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies and procedures.  

  • Oversee all personnel involved in the construction process.  

  • Monitor the progress of projects and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. 

  • Ensure all construction projects meet or exceed internal expectations.

  • Analyze project requirements and plan projects accordingly.  

  • Oversee the preparation of project budgets and ensure all costs are tracked and managed appropriately.  

  • Monitor the progress of projects while ensuring quality of work.  

  • Prepare project performance reports regularly for upper management.   

  • Maintain open communication with senior management and provide timely updates on project progress.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.

  • Liaise with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.  

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, architecture, or another related field is required.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing daily operations of a construction organization. 

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.  

  • Proficient in operating various project management software and applications such as MS Project.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
