Opportunity: 

The Pederson Group has been retained by Akela Construction to conduct a search for a Superintendent to lead their crew in Winnipeg, Manitoba!

The Superintendent will be responsible for representing Akela Construction on the job site and ensuring that the project is brought from concept to reality. This includes planning and scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling activities on the construction site.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure quality control of job sites.

  • Collaborate with project managers, subtrades, and labourers to ensure project success.

  • Follow building codes and safety regulations on all job sites.

  • Provide site leadership and ensure all projects are built according to plans.

  • Maintain daily safety records tracking hazards, progress, inspections, and other relevant information.

  • Potentially supervise multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Perform carpentry, general labour and other duties as needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of construction experience with a minimum of 3 years in a site superintendent position. 

  • Strong expertise in reading, interpreting, and understanding building blueprints.

  • Experience working in commercial or institutional construction is required.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Knowledge of safety requirements, building codes, and industry regulations.

  • Ability to motivate and manage workers of all levels. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Carpentry skills and experience using small tools.

  • Ability to perform physical labour. 

  • Proficient computer skills and experience using various applications such as OneDrive, MileIQ, and Salus are considered an asset.

  • Must have own vehicle for travel between job sites.
