Opportunity:
The Pederson Group has been retained by a highly reputable general contractor to conduct a search for a General Superintendent to join their crew in Winnipeg, Manitoba!

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the General Superintendent will oversee all aspects of the General Contracting Division’s field operations. The General Superintendent will be tasked with establishing and upholding the framework for leading, managing, and supporting field personnel.
Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to superintendents, foremen, and management teams within field operations.

Coordinate with the General Manager for all superintendent and foreman assignments.

Promote the company’s safety program and lead by example.

Direct and assign all trade field assignments for various projects.

Provide technical direction and professional support throughout the duration of the job.

Review project schedules with superintendents and foreman.
-
Ensure all critical activities and decisions remain on task and are aligned with company and client standards.

Document project field issues that impact budget, quality, and schedule and provide updates to the project management team.

Provide oversight to the superintendent and foreman for the development and maintenance of a Resource Allocation System.

Provide guidance in the implementation of the Project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program.

Direct, manage and identify projects with self-performed opportunities and assist in developing the self-performed proposals.

Manage the professional development and progress of field tradespeople.

Collaborate with the senior-level project staff to support the development of logistics plans and schedules during pre-construction and early project activities.

Provide oversight of all general contracting operations, focusing on removing barriers and gaining process efficiencies for operations personnel.

Allocate resources such as personnel, budget, and technology for general contracting projects.

Follow and promote interdepartmental processes and liaise with all departments to provide input to innovate, streamline, and ensure departmental synergies.

Collaborate with the General Manager to forecast the future needs to meet the business and division goals.
Experience and Qualifications:
-
Minimum 10 years of construction experience in the field and general operations.

Minimum 5 years of experience in general contracting, working on projects valued over $20M.

Must possess a clear understanding of contract administration and Canadian Contract Law.

Proven experience coaching, mentoring, and leading a large team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and AutoCAD is considered an asset.

Certification and experience with lean construction practices are considered an asset.

Ability to read and understand construction documents and drawings.

Advanced proficiency in operating MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.

Critical thinking and effective decision-making skills are required.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
