The Pederson Group has been retained by Contempora Steel Builders to conduct a search for a Business Development Manager to join their team in Winnipeg, MB!

Since 1978, Contempora has completed over 1,700 projects, including site development, new buildings, additions, renovations, re-roofing, and wall cladding. Their unwavering commitment to excellence ensures that every building is completed on time and on budget, solidifying their reputation as a trusted partner in the construction industry. 

Reporting to the President, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, as well as working closely with the estimating and design teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities that align with Contempora Steel Builders’ goals. 

  • Forge and cultivate strong industry relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners to generate and maximize business opportunities.

  • Maintain robust local relationships and manage an accurate pipeline of clients for future projects and referrals. 

  • Monitor and analyze competitors’ activities and market conditions.

  • Attend industry events and networking functions to promote the company and identify new opportunities. 

  • Collaborate seamlessly with the estimating, design and project management teams.

  • Design and implement innovative proposals for potential clients confidently when the opportunity arises.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in construction sales, specific to design-build project delivery with a focus on general contracting and pre-engineered steel building systems. 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering or a related field is required. 

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the construction industry. 

  • Strong understanding of construction processes and project management.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM and GDS software.
