The Pederson Group has been retained by Crosier Kilgour to conduct a search for a Building Envelope Specialist to join their building science and building envelope commissioning team in Winnipeg, MB!

In addition to this slate of major projects, CK also completes smaller undertakings such as the building, renovation, and rehabilitation of institutional, commercial and residential facilities. CK’s high standards and top-notch quality is evident in the recent contributions made in the development of some of the city’s most prominent structures, including Manitoba Hydro’s new downtown headquarters, the redevelopment of the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, and Investors Group Field. 

Building Envelope Specialist will bridge all phases of project delivery from investigation through design and construction. This role will assist with both building envelope restoration projects, as well as building envelope commissioning. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of building science project delivery, including investigations and assessments, design assistance, as well as detail development and specification writing.

  • Coordinate, attend and chair construction meetings.

  • Administer and document contract changes.

  • Review contractor submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.

  • Monitor project schedules and costs to maintain adherence to budget and timelines.

  • Provide regular project status reports to the project manager and clients.

  • Perform site reviews throughout the construction phase to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Prepare construction field reports and quantify and record repairs needed during the project.

  • Assist with all aspects of building envelope commissioning project delivery, including commissioning plan and specification development, drawing peer review, submittal review, pre-construction orientation meeting coordination, inspections and testing, compilation of operations and maintenance documentation, and compilation of closeout documentation.

  • Contribute to research and development in the field of building science and building envelope commissioning.

  • Participate in successfully developing the systems related to building science and building envelope commissioning sectors.

  • Pursue opportunities to advance knowledge and specialized training in building science specific investigative and testing methodologies using state-of-the-practice tools, software and equipment.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in biosystems or civil engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology or another related field is required. 

  • CTTAM or EGM membership must be in good standing.

  • Ability to read and understand complex technical plans and blueprints.

  • Previous hands-on experience with building envelope systems is considered an asset.

  • Strong collaborative and team-oriented work style, complemented by excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, both in person and via web-conferencing.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Proven physical ability to investigate construction sites in various conditions.

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

  • Must be able to pass all government security clearances.
