The Pederson Group has been retained by Nova Star to conduct a search for a General Manager to lead their team in Winnipeg, Manitoba!
Nova Star (a Red River Co-op company) is a highly reputable industrial and commercial refrigeration company that provides service and maintenance for all types of refrigeration, heating, air conditioning and kitchen equipment. They also specialize in other areas like heat pumps, gas pipes, hookups and ventilation. Since 1996, Nova Star’s team of professionally trained professionals have built a reputation for excellent customer service due to honest, reliable, and fast HVAC solutions.
Reporting to the CEO of Red River Cooperative, the General Manager will lead the entire Nova Star team, consisting of the Operations Manager and various technicians. This role will be responsible for maintaining and profitably growing the book of business.
Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring quality, productivity, and profitability to meet company standards.

Develop new strategies for growth and execute the plan.

Build and sustain strong relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and industry contacts to enhance competitiveness and secure future business.

Perform sales calls and site visits to potential and existing customers to generate business.

Manage the development of proposals related to new business, including quoting, parts/product sourcing, scheduling and organizing work and related administrative functions.

Oversee all aspects of service requests, ensuring technician’s work meets established standards of quality and timeliness.

Ensure customer requirements are met while adhering to budget.

Monitor business performance and complete and distribute financial and non-financial reports to key stakeholders.

Provide leadership in the areas of employee relations, hiring, training, development, performance management, discipline, recognition, termination, administration of policy and procedures, WCB claims, and apprenticeship program.

Assist and mentor the team and aid in their professional development.

Inspire team performance towards common goals, serve as a role model and foster a positive work environment.

Ensure compliance with provincial legislation and regulations, as well as company policies surrounding conduct and health and safety.

Other duties as required to ensure the proper management of the business.
Experience and Qualifications:
-
Minimum 10 years of experience managing a business or leading a department of significant volume/ responsibility.

Strong working knowledge of a service organization, with a preference towards a refrigeration company.

Proven ability to lead a diverse group of individuals.

Strong business and financial acumen, including growing profitable revenues, delivering positive results and understanding financial statements.

Ability to guide a team of experienced technicians while maintaining a customer-focused mentality and delivering quality service.

Highly developed organizational and planning skills, time management skills and written/oral communication skills.

Demonstrates a strong personal commitment to organizational excellence by consistently upholding honesty, integrity and ethical standards in all decisions and actions.
