The Pederson Group has been retained by Avana to conduct a search for a Manager of Construction to lead their projects!

Reporting to the Senior Director, Construction, the Manager of Construction will play a key part in driving project excellence, team performance and operational consistency.
Responsibilities:
Project & Team Leadership

Support and champion construction best practices while leading a team of five Project Managers.

Ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery by improving schedule accuracy, cost control and change order management.

Ensure all project schedules are current and reflect real-time progress.

Oversee resource planning and allocation.

Review and finalize bi-weekly status reports.

Ensure use and maintenance of Project Management Process Assets (Shop Drawing Logs, RFI Logs, etc.).

Support and oversee project financial management, forecasting and reporting.

Monitor and participate in weekly/bi-weekly sub-trade scheduling meetings.

Provide support for negotiation and conflict resolution.

Drive successful project turnovers to stakeholders.

Mentor and support the professional growth of all direct reports.

Support hiring, onboarding and cross-functional training programs.

Strengthen communication and collaboration between Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
Project & Operational Excellence

Support improvements to estimating processes and tender package development.

Help ensure systems, processes, and procedures consistently deliver on-time and on-budget projects.

Promote a positive, collaborative, and continuously improving workplace culture.

Support subcontractor evaluation and help strengthen trade relationships

Identify and assess project and operational risks, recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.

Assist with permitting processes and maintain strong relationships with jurisdictions.

Strengthen risk management practices, including safety, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
Experience and Qualifications:

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or another related field. Equivalent combinations of education and construction experience will also be considered.

Minimum 5 to 7 years of construction experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or project management role within multi-family, commercial or large-scale residential construction.

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.

Proven experience managing complex, fast-paced construction projects.

P.Eng designation preferred but not required.

Commercial construction experience preferred.

Multi-family construction experience considered an asset.
